One Dead In Southern Polk Accident

One person has died after an accident on the Old Cedartown Highway near Cave Spring just over the county line in Polk County.

The victim has been identified as 58 year old Nell J. Grant, according to Polk County Assistant Coroner Tony Brazier.

Grant who was employed by the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring apparently lost control of the vehicle about three miles west of Cedartown and veered of the side of the road hitting some trees.

Emergency personnel from Floyd County responded initially to the scene and reported back to Floyd County 911 that the accident was actually across the line in Polk County.

Floyd units continued on to the scene until Polk Emergency Personnel arrived.

The Georgia State Troopers said her vehicle sustained heavy damages but there are thoughts that the woman may have suffered some sort of medical dilemma that caused the accident.
